"What’s new? Well, as far as Christian Mystics is concerned, I’m new. I shall refrain from posting at length for the time being as I would like to read so much of what everyone else has to say. I’m just [...]" · View

Thank you David, Chuck and Steve for your kind and thoughtful comments. They have given me things to consider and will help me immensely on my journey.

    Peace.

Any thoughts on the length of time one should chant for? Is it more effective to chant aloud or would an internal repetition of a sacred name or phrase work just as well?

First I want to say thank you to those of you who have recently reminded me to return to this space. I am certainly in need of spiritual sustenance and feel a little like the Prodigal Son, looking again to The Lord for forgiveness and aid in a time of struggle. I’m going through a [...]

The Father is always in the present moment. Whenever I have fallen away or lost sight of the reality of His encompassing Love, my first port of call is always the stillness of the present moment. In the silence between thoughts, the expanse of His Grace, is always available to us. It is here that I, personally, reaffirm my relationship with the Father.

I find that if I can just ”be”, without thought or action or word, in stillness of heart and mind, then His peace, which transcends all the difficulties of life, rises within my being, and takes away all the hurt and pain that has become my burden.

It is a difficult path to travel, as the egoic mind within us will fight to keep us busy, feeding itself on our fear and pain. It needs this to sustain itself.

We must try to walk the ”narrow path” by denying the ego through the laying of our fears and worries, at the foot of the cross. However, this is no small task, and should never be underestimated. Finding the silent place within our hearts takes practice and trust and faith. But if you seek with an earnest heart, then the gift of peace, will be given.

Christ, whilst hanging on the cross found His strength and ultimately, His peace, by carrying the image of you before Him. He loved you to the point of death. He continues to love you, and if you dare to seek Him within the stillnes of your heart, His love will give you the strength and the peace, to endure all that the world can levy against you.

No matter how long you’ve been away.

Seek the silence within the stillness in your heart, and He WILL meet you there.

Blessings and peace be with you.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I will respond at greater length shortly when I have had time to mull things over. For now, work and my dog call for a walk! See you all soon.

Thank you, Seth. I’ll not be giving up on the wider Church, wherever I find it. No worries there. I do normally avoid any discussion with fundamentalists but I slipped up this time!

    I appreciate your support.

I’ve been too long away from this web-site, distracted by the hum-drum and, I confess, things of little real import (as well as a few things of great import as well). I need to catch up with what others have been writing and sharing and I shall do. First, I need to share something: I [...]

The secular Christmas begins in earnest round about September these days. The shops start to fill with mountains of consumer goods, TV advertising becomes even more garish than it normally is and all eyes turn towards the year’s ending as people manically begin to compile shopping lists, purchase more food than they can ever eat [...]

Kelly, Your question rings a lot of bells for me. I’m no theologian, so I can only respond from my own experience. First, I think that there are times when it is quite legitimate to take a break from studying or reading The Bible. The Scriptures are a wonderful gift that we should treasure and [...]
