It’s Something to Think About

A very simple something popped into my head this morning because of all the news that’s dribbling out about what our country has been doing for the past few years.
The question? Who would Jesus tortue?

Brian
Unconditional love can be torturous to those who don’t know love.
LOL this reminds me of something a Jewish friend once shared with me.
“We Jews do not exactly believe in heaven and hell as you do — but we do believe they exist. We believe that after death, you go to a place where you sit and debate/discuss scriptures with Moses, Elijah and Abraham. To the righteous, this is Heaven, but to the unrighteous — well, it has to be hell.”
As to the real question. I do not know — the more I learn from Him, the less I find myself able to predict about Him. Five years ago I could have given you a very logical, scripturally accurate, and confident answer. Anymore, nah, just an exercise in the arrogant belief that I can comprehend even 1% of what He does do, never mind the stuff he “might” do.
Wow! What a question… Is it reasonable to believe that a pure spirit would torture a physical being? Are we talking about Jesus the historical man or the allegorical incarnate soul/spirit?
My own take on it is this.
If you have a line and one end of the line is the Torturer and at the end other end of the line is the Victim, it would be good to remember Jesus’ saying, basically, “What you do to the least of these, you do to me.”
Jesus’ story is one that so directly ties into this question, and his role of victim to hideous treatment (by the way, if waterboarding had been around it would have been used) was, as I think I’ve said before, the world saying NO to Jesus when, in Reality, what was around the corner was God saying YES.
Blessings,
Brian
Jesus would say exactly what he said as he hung on the cross and his torturers mocked and laughed at him.”Father forgive them for they know not what they do, and Neither do I condemn you……”
